Place 2 Be
We provide mental health and wellbeing services to pupils in our partner schools to help contribute to a whole-school approach to mental health. Services for pupils in our partner schools are split into universal and targeted services.
“The Place2Be session was really good in a way that I could just release everything. I could let everything go.”

Universal mental health services
Every pupil at a Place2Be partner school has access to our universal mental health services, which include:
- whole-class work, resources and activities
- Place2Talk support service — a break-time counselling service available to all pupils through self-referral.
Targeted mental health services
If a child or young person is identified as needing additional support, they may receive a mental health assessment. This assessment allows us to determine if we can provide them with more targeted interventions that might help them.
Our targeted mental health services include:
- one-to-one counselling
- group work — a programme that uses creative exercises to improve self-confidence and resilience
- CBT-informed therapy — a cognitive behavioural therapy available to secondary and high schools only
- parent-child training sessions — parent-child training available to primary schools only.
Various digital support tools are also available to pupils in our partner schools. These tools include:
- Kooth — a mental wellbeing community where pupils can find online support and counselling
- Shout — a 24/7 text messaging crisis support service.
